Annual General Meeting – May 14th, 2018

 Annual General Meeting once again!

We are happy to report that our 2018 AGM was well attended. So good to see everyone happy and, eventually, wed fed. (More of that later!)

After we were all seated and the chatter died down, Tammy Davis from the hospital gave us an excellent run-down on the goings-on at the hospital over the last year, the items that are needed and the priorities in which they are needed.

North Hastings District Hospital Auxiliary Mary Smith, S.E. region chair from HAAO, visited us to install the 2018/19 executive slate.

A brief meeting followed the installation and then it was time for lunch – and what a delicious lunch it was!

The main dish was homemade lasagna by Alice's Pantry, followed by a gorgeous selection of desserts all made by volunteers. Just take a look! Did you have two?

Volunteers make a big splash!

UPDATE: October 16, 2017

Exciting news – we submitted this picture to the annual HAAO volunteer photo contest and… WE WON FIRST PRIZE!

This photo that was published in The Bancroft Times shows just about every one of us.

It was composed by Dianne Martin who did a great job. Thanks, Dianne! And thanks to everyone for being a NHDHA volunteer!

Hurray for us all!

Grand Prize Raffle Winner!

Congratulations go out to the winners of the North Hastings District Hospital Auxiliary 2016 Raffle, which was drawn on Dec. 9th.  The grand prize of a $1,000 gift card from Bancroft Foodland went to Carole Boyle of Cardiff, the second prize of a $500 gift card went to Alex Matheson of Bancroft and the third prize of a $250 gift card went to John Sudnikowicz of Apsley.  A big thank you goes out to Joe and Carol Favot of Bancroft Foodland for their generous support of the raffle prizes.  The raffle raised just over $3,000 which will go to much needed equipment at the North Hastings Hospital.

Congratulations to our own Jim Sopha!

At our General Meeting in October, Jim Sopha was applauded for his outstanding service to our Auxiliary. Jim has held many executive positions since he joined in 2001, has gained his 7,000 hour Service Pin and has been honoured with an Ontario Volunteer Service Award.

We are now so pleased to announce that Jim is now the recipient of Provincial Life Membership in Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario (HAAO) at a recent meeting in Toronto.
Jim and his wife Elda have now moved away from Bancroft but have faithfully promised to visit us regularly.  We look foward to it!

North Hastings District Hospital Auxiliary has launched our 2016 campaign. To reflect our hospital’s need for the following cardiac related equipment all funds raised will go towards the purchase of a Heartstart MRX, Defibrillator and various other components.

Starting June 25 – July 3, Pepins No Frills will again be providing a venue for our barbecue and Rounding up all grocery purchases at the cash which will go to the Hospital.

The summer continues with the Moose FM Radiothon, August 12-13, barbecue and breakfast.

September brings back the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie.  From September 12 – 18 watch for the Auxiliary members’ smiling faces to accompany those cookies.  Even if you don’t eat sweets, buy some for a friend and of course, donations are gladly accepted.

Rounding off the year will be the second Annual Festival of Trees, December 3 – 10.  More trees, more variety, wine and cheese and entertainment!

New last year, and hot off the press for this season, Foodland raffle tickets are available while they last.  Draw December 9th at the Wine and Cheese.  Gift cards for Sobey’s, Foodland or Freshco, valued at $1000, $500, and $250  couldn't be more welcome at that time of year. Look out for us at Wheels, Water and Wings, New to You, the Corner Café or speak to an Auxiliary member.

Time to get your volunteering diary out and help fill all the spots to get the campaign up and running!
