Happy to say there was a good turn-out at our last meeting before all our summer activities begin. We started with a barbecue right on the doorstep outside the Corner Cafe.
Rescue Me is the name this year's campaign to raise money for an Omni Cell for the Trauma area. See our Facebook page for the times of the various events.
The highlight of our meeting was the installation of Glenna Armstrong as Director-at-Large. Way to go, Glenna!
Our AGM was really well attended this year. Around 45 people showed up for our formalities and lunch to follow. Old friends got together, new friends were made. All as it should be.
Jane Batey, from HAAO, accompanied by her husband, graced us with her presence and performed the swearing in of our new Executive for the 2017 – 2018 year.

Exciting news – we submitted this picture to the annual HAAO volunteer photo contest and… WE WON FIRST PRIZE!
This photo that was published in The Bancroft Times shows just about every one of us.
It was composed by Dianne Martin who did a great job. Thanks, Dianne! And thanks to everyone for being a NHDHA volunteer!
Hurray for us all!
December 9th, 2016 – our wrap-up fund-raising event! The Corner Café and Fireside Room were decked in their Christmas finery in anticipation of the Raffle draw and the annoucement of the happy winners who were lucky enough to be taking home a beautifully decorated Christmas tree or wreath. There was music from Steve and Ernie, cheese and nibbles, wine served by our own special barman and great conversation. A lovely evening indeed.
We must express our gratitude to Home Hardware who supplied our lovely pre-lit trees and to all the local businesses and the pupils from Our Lady of Mercy School who did such a beautiful job decorating them.
A special mention too to the young musicians from NHHS who entertained us through the previous week as visitors came to inspect the trees.A wonderful effort – thank you, thank you!
Congratulations go out to the winners of the North Hastings District Hospital Auxiliary 2016 Raffle, which was drawn on Dec. 9th. The grand prize of a $1,000 gift card from Bancroft Foodland went to Carole Boyle of Cardiff, the second prize of a $500 gift card went to Alex Matheson of Bancroft and the third prize of a $250 gift card went to John Sudnikowicz of Apsley. A big thank you goes out to Joe and Carol Favot of Bancroft Foodland for their generous support of the raffle prizes. The raffle raised just over $3,000 which will go to much needed equipment at the North Hastings Hospital.
