THE BEAT GOES ON!

North Hastings District Hospital Auxiliary has launched our 2016 campaign. To reflect our hospital’s need for the following cardiac related equipment all funds raised will go towards the purchase of a Heartstart MRX, Defibrillator and various other components. 

Starting June 25 – July 3, Pepins No Frills will again be providing a venue for our barbecue and Rounding up all grocery purchases at the cash which will go to the Hospital.

The summer continues with the Moose FM Radiothon, August 12-13, barbecue and breakfast. 

September brings back the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie.  From September 12 – 18 watch for the Auxiliary members’ smiling faces to accompany those cookies.  Even if you don’t eat sweets, buy some for a friend and of course, donations are gladly accepted.

Rounding off the year will be the second Annual Festival of Trees, December 3 – 10.  More trees, more variety, wine and cheese and entertainment!

New last year, and hot off the press for this season, Foodland raffle tickets are available while they last.  Draw December 9th at the Wine and Cheese.  Gift cards for Sobey’s, Foodland or Freshco, valued at $1000, $500, and $250  couldn't be more welcome at that time of year. Look out for us at Wheels, Water and Wings, New to You, the Corner Café or speak to an Auxiliary member.

Volunteer Week 2018 – an excellent celebration!

On April 21st 2018, NHDHA celebrated Volunteer Week 2018 with a luncheon shared by several other volunteer organizations active in Bancroft. It was great to see the camaraderie that this get-together generated. Stories were told and laughter rang through the Legion as we enjoyed a delicious lunch.

What a party – what a year!

October 21st, 2015 was the occasion of our 30th Anniversary celebration dinner. And what a celebration it was!

The Faraday Community Centre was fairly bursting its bricks with happy Auxiliary members and their spouses, partners and friends, many of whom were sporting hats "Casablanca"-style in keeping with our "Here's Looking At You" fund-raising theme. First we enjoyed a wonderful meal, followed by a real musical treat from the ladies of Camaraderie. There were door prizes and a silent auction too

The high spot of the evening, however, was the annoucement by our President Debbie Speck that not only had our fund-raising goal for the year had been met, our fund-raising goal for 2015 AND 2016 was fulfilled. A whopping $100,000 cheque was presented by Auxiliary President Debbie Speck to Kim Bishop, Chair of the North Hastings Fund Development Committee for the purchase of a portable ultra-sound machine, a portable X-ray machine and a blood analyser for the Hospital.

The people of Bancroft, visitors and cottagers too, have always risen to the occasion on the behalf of the Hospital and the Auxiliary wants to thank everyone for this year’s response. Our hospital is a very important asset to our community and we all appreciate how fortunate we are to have it. Thank you SO much everyone!

So let us all pat ourselves on the back. Well done, the Auxiliary! But more than that, well done to everyone who donated. Thank you, Bancroft! This is a generous and warm-hearted community.

 

A Celebration!

For all those members of the Auxiliary who are friends of Janet Griffin, there will be an Open House on Saturday , November 15th to celebrate Janet’s 80th birthday!

What a summer!

The SMILE cookie campaign is over for another year. Done and dusted. We Auxiliary members need to give ourselves a hearty pat on our collective back. And of course an extra pat for Janet Wootton and Pat Hicks who made the SMILE campaign happen.

It went like this: first Janet and Pat received the cheque from Glen Keating of Tim Hortons – once again we express our appreciation to Glen and staff for their hard work and generosity.
